Don't you hate it when people write something on their blog only to say that they might have news -- potentially! exciting! news! -- and maybe they'll tell you about it later (but not now!)? And then they won't even give you a hint as to what it is? And then you get all in a tizzy because: news! Fun! Secrets! Whee! Bloggy excitement!
But after that initial excitement fades, you find yourself sitting there at your desk, all fuming and pissed off thanks to the tantalizing maybe-news of some complete stranger from the Internet (or possibly an Internet friend or acquaintance, but in any event someone you're not likely to be able to call up and demand that they come out with it right now, missy). Because you don't really know them, and how dare they play with your emotions like that? Making you get all aquiver about some news that may not even be news, and about some person you don't really know! Hmph. (Except of course, you can't really be mad at them because they are part of your community bloggy goodness, so really it's a fake huffiness and inside you're still all fluttery because: news! (Maybe).).
And -- and! -- sometimes, after they drop this nugget about how they might have news, not now, but possibly soon -- after creating this buzz of sorts -- they go off onto other things and some period of time passes and then finally someone gives them a poke and says, "Hey, what they hell happened with your potentially! exciting! news!, goddamnit?" and then they realize they forgot all about their big, sweeping, slightly smug maybe-news teasers and in fact, they changed their minds about the potentially life-altering decision, so in fact there's no news at all anymore, and now it's such an anticlimax that they won't even tell you what the news was going to be, because well, it's over, so really it doesn't matter anymore, does it?
And then you glower about for a while and think about how, if you were the kind of person to toss around tidbits about your life on the Web, you'd at least be considerate about it and you sure as hell wouldn't torture people in such a self-satisfied manner, a manner that reminds you of that annoying girl in elementary school who would sing-song about how she had a secret, and didn't you always want to punch that girl right in the face?
Seriously, don't you hate that?
Yeah. I hate that, too.
(Maybe I will have something to tell you later. Maybe. And maybe it will have some modicum of excitement. Well, at least for me; I can't really predict whether it will be all that exciting to you, except for a select few of you who already know what I'm (maybe!) talking about, and you just keep quiet now, mmmkay?)
(If I do have anything to tell you, it will be in a few weeks, so don't get all on the edge of your seat or anything. And it might not come to anything, so I don't know why I'm even writing this, except that it's late and I don't have a helluva lot else to say. But how about this -- if it doesn't come to anything, I'll at least tell you what it was, not that it will matter because by then you really won't care anymore and you'll be all, oh that? Feh.
(NO, y'all, I am NOT pregnant! Dear GOD, no. Adopting, remember? ADOPTING.)
(Carry on!)

Oh. My. God. I am totally going to stalk you via the internet and call you up and demand the news. I am all aquiver!
I am guessing it is work-related? Just because I don't respond to e-mail very well doesn't mean you can avoid telling me!
Aquiver!

This post was a relief to me in so many ways.

I'm just going to sit here and stew because OH MY GOD, do I hate that. But I'll suffer in silence and try to be good.

Well done! Hoping you've got some good ADOPTING news. I know how long all that can take.

I am shooting daggers at you with my eyes (um...through my computer? yeah, just roll with it). TEASE!

Oh, MAN! I must know. Can't wait to hear the (good?) news!

This is cruel.
My first guess was adoption news, but I guess it's too soon for anything really exciting in that area, huh?
So I would venture a guess about something work-related (?), but I don't want to jinx you.
Relatedly, I just found out about a third woman in my class who is pregnant. Who knew having children while in law school was the new trend? Pretty smart idea though, considering they can take a semester off without losing half their salary.
